Offer Centrepay
NSW landlords must offer Centrepay as a rent payment option. Add your reference once and Tenwise handles the tenant-facing part.
Since 2 March 2026, NSW landlords must offer Centrepay alongside electronic transfer, and can never charge the tenant for using it. Centrepay deducts rent from a tenant's Centrelink payment and Services Australia pays you directly; Tenwise is never in the money path.
Steps
- 1Register as a Centrepay business with Services Australia (the tenancy page links the official guidance).
- 2Add your Centrepay reference on the tenancy.
- 3Done. Your tenant sees the reference and a plain how-to in their portal, and sets the deduction up in myGov if they choose to.
A Centrepay payment lands in your bank like any other transfer and is marked paid the same way.
